bar · Ribeira · Porto
A 1959 Porto tavern reborn as a cocktail bar that treats the drinks with the same seriousness the old place reserved for its wines. The inaugural menu was structured around the 1922 South Atlantic crossing by Portuguese aviators Gago Coutinho and Sacadura Cabral - twelve cocktails, each built around a moment of that journey.
Marlindo 1959 occupies what was, for decades, a neighbourhood tavern of the same name - opened in 1959 by a pair of friends, and trading in wines and petiscos through several generations of locals. The original façade plaque reading 'Casa Marlindo. Vinhos e Petiscos' is still in place above the door.
Address: Rua de Trás 15, Porto
