After finding Dona Mira by accident one evening last fall, we've found ourselves coming back any time we were in the area. It just feels like being in a comfortable living room with books and vintage décor. The owner is a long-time Brazilian music producer and his love for music is evident throughout the restaurant.
Dona Mira opened in July 2021 on Rua do Duque de Saldanha in Bonfim, taking over the space of the former Âme Café. The founders are Carlos Fuchs and Valéria Lobão - a Brazilian couple, both musicians, who ran a recording studio in Rio de Janeiro for over two decades before moving to Porto in 2018. The name is a tribute: Dona Mira was Carlos's grandmother, a violinist and one of the founders of the Brazilian Symphony Orchestra, and the logo is drawn from a 1930 caricature of her.
