Claus Porto was founded in Porto in 1887 by two German entrepreneurs. It survived a world war, changed hands, and eventually became one of Portugal's most recognisable heritage brands - known internationally for its luxuriously packaged soaps and fragrances, and reportedly Oprah's favourite Portuguese product.
