A specialist instrument shop, music school, luthier's workshop, and daily fado concert venue in one small historic space - the luthier who builds the Portuguese guitars in the workshop downstairs plays them in the evening concerts upstairs.
Casa da Guitarra was founded in 2012 by Alfredo Teixeira, a guitarist and luthier who wanted a space dedicated to Portugal's traditional stringed instruments. The shop is one thing, but it's not really about selling. It's about preservation, education, and the live performance of a musical tradition that doesn't get nearly enough attention outside Lisbon.
