The Porto shop of Burel Factory - a revived Serra da Estrela wool mill - selling blankets, clothing, and homeware made from burel, the traditional water-resistant boiled wool once worn by mountain shepherds.
Burel is a traditional Portuguese boiled wool: dense, water-resistant, and for generations worn only by shepherds in the Serra da Estrela mountains. The fabric was nearly lost when the region's wool industry collapsed.
